The Most Valuable Skill You Can Learn for Content Creation

Hello Friend,

Ethan here and welcome to this week's letter.

If you're serious about growing on social media and building a personal brand that stands out, there’s 1 skill you absolutely cannot ignore:

Persuasive communication.

In a world where everyone is competing for attention, you need to know how to draw people into your vision and ideas.

Hook people in through your messaging, and keep them coming back for more.

Whether you want to attract followers, sell products, or just get people to watch your videos, it all starts with how you communicate.

In this letter we will get into the importance of learning how to effectively communicate to be able to spark and hold attention and interest.

Sparking and holding interest.

Every time you post on social media, you're bidding for a random person's attention.

Attention is one of the most valuable things someone can give someone.

Attention is the new currency of the digital age.

If you can generate enough attention, everything else will fall into place naturally. You wouldn’t even need to learn much else and you can create a full time living online.

If you can master the art of persuasion, you’re not just getting views—you will also be able to share your audience with a growing community, monetize your products, and ultimately create a lot of value for people.

We need to spark interest in people to learn more about topics and further their education.

You do not accidentally stumble into learning a new skill, or diving into a new topic. You were at 1 point convinced and persuaded that the skill or topic is interesting, beneficial, and worth your time to learn more about.

Therefore as creators it is our job to sell people on our own interests and passions. We will do this by creating content on social media. Your content is a bid in an open market of ideas and entertainment.

People won’t just stumble upon your content, wait through the boredom of a bad hook and then give you a second chance. We need to guide people into consuming thoughtful and positive content.

Study your own behaviour when you scroll -

If you are not convinced to watch the video by the first 0.5 - 2 seconds you'll be gone.

You're probably pretty hard to impress. We all are, it's human nature.

Prevent the adversary.

If creators like us, the ones that appreciate value based content, do not learn the skills of persuasive communication then people will only be left to consume the brain-numbing harmful content we all hate.

The harmful content that serves no purpose rather then getting more views.

This content is like an addictive drug that pulls you away from reality and life.

The content that you can just binge on for hours with no real benefit or gain.

The content that doesn’t even help you relax, but instead hijacks your brain on a dopamine hamster wheel.

The "satisfying videos, the softcore p**n videos, the harmful prank videos, ect"

This will not help anyone achieve their goals or raise the conscious vibration of the population.

I want more creators like you to learn how to capture attention while persuading people into your network of skills, interests, and ideas through value based content.

Content that will bring people up rather than keep them plugged in.

Value content can be entertaining and can yield just as many views as the brainless content if created in an effective manner.

When you help enough people and create an impact on enough lives, you will then get paid. Generously paid if you leverage social media to increase the amount of impact you have.

It is unlikely to grow a newsletter of 30,000 like minded people and not make an average annual salary every single month for yourself.

How to Create Persuasive Content

Your Hook

Your hook is the first initial chance to get someone to watch your video. This is the most important part of your video. Assuming that they don't know who you are and have never seen you before... why should they stick around? Check out the free hooks template here

Learn your audience

You can’t persuade someone if you don’t know what they care about. Do some research as you scroll. What are some pain points? What have been viral topics in the past? What's a hot take or new angle that you can speak out? The more you understand, the better you can tailor your message to grab their attention. Please keep your topics broad and beginner friendly.

Tell Stories

Facts are great, but stories are what make people feel. Share your journey, your wins, your struggles. Stories create emotional connections that facts alone can’t. And when people feel connected, they’re more likely to trust you and your message.

Create Value

What’s in it for them? Your content should solve a problem and provide new insights. Give actionable clear advice with an easy takeaway. All of my viral videos are basic, broad, and gives an easy take away. If your audience finds value in what you share, they’ll keep coming back.

Polarization

Be polarizing through your tone of voice and confidence. If you carry you message with conviction people will feel that through the content. No one wants to listen and learn from someone who is not confident about their ideas. Be confident in your ideas but still be open minded enough to change them.

People need to watch your content.

The truth is, if you’re not persuading, you’re not getting views.

If you're not getting views then your not growing.

We need people to watch and share our content. We need eyeballs!

If you are too niched or too specific with your content and not getting any views you are wasting your time.

You might have a great message for a specific demographic of people but if no one sees your post then you have no impact.

The more effective you can communicate, the more people you’ll attract, the bigger your community you will grow, and the easier it is to monetize.

Start practicing persuasive communication today.

Experiment with your content.

Experiment in messages, comments, and texts.

Experiment in real life and in social settings.

See what resonates and redefine your approach. Over time, you'll see the results in more followers, more engagement, and more opportunities.

Until next time,
Ethan
